Product Description

Ci Cable Identification Instrument

Darui Electric recommends for you:

Working Principle

CiCable Identification Instrument In order to reliably and accurately identify cables, it is necessary to apply a special signal to the cable to be identified, which must be received by a dedicated receiver. Using this characteristic, the target cable can be identified.

The instrument operates on the following principle:

The generator feeds periodic unipolar voltage pulses into the cable to be identified. The cable needs to be grounded at the far end to ensure sufficient current flows through the cable. The system is designed so that the return current does not flow through the same cable. To achieve this, the direction of the pulse current fed into the cable can be used as an obvious identification criterion. The outgoing current flows only through this one cable, while all other adjacent cables carry return currents, but with opposite polarity. In addition to the actual difference in current direction, the current amplitude is also an identification feature. The outgoing current flows through only one cable, while the return current may flow through several cables, meaning the outgoing current is larger than the return currents flowing through other cables.

The receiver's task is to detect the direction and magnitude of the current flowing through the cable. To achieve this, a current clamp is used as a sensor, which is equipped with an amplifier and connected in series in the circuit. The clamp clamps onto the cable under test. The magnetic field generated by the current flowing through the cable induces a voltage in the clamp's coil. The polarity of this voltage is determined by the direction of the current and the orientation of the clamp's coil. To obtain a clear voltage polarity indicating current direction, all cables in a bundle are tested with the same correct winding direction. This is why an arrow is marked on the clamp. The direction of the arrow on the clamp should point towards the far end of the cable. The voltage induced in the clamp's coil is displayed on the meter. If the clamp is connected as described above, the direction of the pointer swing can indicate the current direction. That is, only the cable with outgoing current will cause the pointer to deflect to the right; this is the cable to be found. All other cables carry only return current, causing the pointer to deflect to the left, or if there is no pulse current, the pointer does not deflect. The amplifier adjustment on the receiver can adjust the signal strength.

CiCable Identification Instrument Function Introduction

Main unit dimensions: 400mm×270mm×210mm

Receiver dimensions: 155mm×205mm×50mm

The functions of each part of the main unit are as follows:

1. Power switch: Controls the on/off of the entire unit's power.

2. Power input socket: Use the dedicated power cord provided with the instrument to input 50Hz, 220V AC power. When using the instrument, it should be plugged into a three-hole power socket independently, and the socket's ground wire should be directly grounded nearby.

3. Fuse holder: The instrument uses a 10A fuse. If damaged, replace with a fuse of the same specification.

4. Black binding post: During testing, insert the matching black test lead (Ф4 plug) into this jack, and connect the other end's test clip to the system ground.

5. Red binding post: During testing, insert the matching red test lead (Ф4 plug) into this jack, and connect the other end's test clip to the cable core under test.

6. Meter: Indicates the output current magnitude.

7. Output adjustment: Used to adjust the current of the main unit. During use, adjust appropriately according to the length of the cable under test and the indication on the receiver. Rotate clockwise to increase the output current.

The functions of each part of the receiver are as follows:

1. Power switch: Turns the receiver power on and off.

2. Amplitude adjustment: Rotate clockwise to increase the meter reading on the receiver; rotate counterclockwise to decrease it.

3. Meter: Indicates the amplitude and polarity of the input signal.

4. Power indicator light: When the power switch is turned on, the indicator light is on.
