Due to the continuous heavy rain last night, the water level of the Mianjiang River in Ruijin City surged, exceeding the warning line by meters, causing damage to multiple power equipment and a large-scale power outage in the urban area. Repair calls came in one after another, and they had not slept all night.
The rain was still drizzling, and the water on the road in front of the Urban Power Supply Station had reached waist level, making it impossible to drive the repair vehicle. To reach the site as soon as possible, everyone had to wade through the water on foot wearing raincoats. At 6:10, they finally arrived at the scene. After eliminating the risk of electric shock from wading, Director Zhong Wuping and the distribution class technicians entered the basement under the guidance of the hotel staff. The turbid rainwater had reached knee level, and the light was dim, so they could only check the situation by flashlight. However, looking around, the power distribution room was surrounded by floodwater, making it impossible to assess the extent of equipment damage. They had to ask the hotel staff to quickly bring a generator to pump out the water before proceeding with repairs.
At 9 a.m. the next day, the hotel staff called to inform that the basement water had receded. To quickly identify the cause of the fault, Director Zhong Wuping invited a testing specialist from the testing class to go together. After a comprehensive on-site inspection, it was found that the high-voltage switchgear had been flooded and broken down, and multiple cables were soaked with insulation burned. Given the severe damage to the high-voltage switchgear and cables, replacing everything would be a time-consuming and labor-intensive project. Seeing the worried look on the hotel manager's face, Director Zhong Wuping made a prompt decision: "He has dual power supply. Connect him to the bypass switch and restore power first!"
