The schematic also includes recommended values for safety resistors. You don't have to add these resistors, but they only make all components safer.
First, glue the capacitors together to make soldering much easier, or if you have a vise, you can also use a vise, which will also help you get the job done.
You can see in the picture that I glued seven capacitors together, and I will also glue more when soldering seven diodes on the multiplier. Doing this makes your work easier...
Also, make sure to make nice, shiny, and rounded solder joints to avoid corona discharge, which can cause many problems for the voltage multiplier.
Finally, solder the fuses (safety resistors) and wires. It is best to cover everything with hot glue to prevent wire breakage and cause huge problems.
Additionally, it is recommended that you place the entire voltage multiplier in a project box and fill it with melted paraffin wax (candle wax). You can easily buy paraffin wax from most hobby shops.
You don't have to use the voltage multiplier only for the Marx generator; you can use it as a high voltage power supply for other things, such as Kirlian photography, static motors, and similar things. Or you can also use it for entertainment, like making sparks jump between the ends of wires and impressing your friends! Just like I did in the picture below! :-)
If you want to get more voltage from the voltage multiplier, just add more stages of capacitors and diodes! Each stage will add another 120V or 240V to the voltage multiplier.
