Test Requirements for Lightning Protection Insulation Resistance Tester

Lightning protection insulation resistance tester in the lightning protection device detection work, need to test the performance of zinc oxide arrester insulation materials, insulation materials mainly use their insulation performance to isolate live or different potential conductors so that the current flows in a certain direction. Regardless of the material used, the insulation resistance should at least be the same as required by the specification, which is also the reason why this insulation resistance must be tested. Insulation resistance testing is mainly used when adopting S-type link network, except at the earthing reference point (EPR), whether the specified insulation requirements and SPD insulation resistance test requirements are met. In addition to the megger, a 1.2/50 us waveform impulse current generator can also be used for impulse testing to test the insulation of S-type network except ERP.

Lightning protection insulation resistance tester technical features:

1. The maximum error should not exceed ±30%

2. DC test voltage should be used.

3. When connected with a 5μF capacitor in series with the resistance under test (Ri=Un•1000Ω/V), the test result should be different from that without the capacitor and greater than 10%.

4. The test voltage should not exceed 1.5•Un

5. The test current flowing through the resistance under test Un•1000Ω/V should be at least 1mA.

6. The test current should not exceed 15mAp, and the AC component should not exceed 1.5mA

7. External AC or DC voltage connected to the test equipment and lasting 10 seconds should not damage the equipment.
